Joel Robuchon is the world's most decorated chef, and while he has eateries worldwide, his For tourists, Las Vegas is the best dining city in the United States, with an abundance of choices for every taste and budget, from stunning Michelin-starred fine dining to mind boggling buffets, and it boasts the greatest of eateries by standout world-class chefs.
As a result, choosing where to eat when visiting can be overwhelming. Nicknamed the Chef of the Century and the amasser of way more Michelin stars than anyone else, ever, Robuchon is simply the greatest living chef, and this - not Paris or Hong Kong or Dubai - is his flagship. Best Classic: Golden Steer: This steakhouse is the oldest in Vegas, and while so many top spots of its era have vanished, the Golden Steer is busier and hotter than ever.
Waiters in white uniforms do tableside Caesar salad, debone dover sole and create extravagant flaming art with fiery Bananas Foster, while the top starter is a multi-tiered cold seafood platter. Eating here is a trip back in time to old Vegas but the food is also great. Not your typical weekend brunch, The Sterling at Bally's has both caviar and sushi bars, plus whole First, it is one of the tiny handful of bottomless champagne brunches in America actually serving real champagne - Perrier Jouet Grand Brut - and lots of it.
The similarly deluxe all you can eat slate also includes a caviar station, raw bar, sushi, whole lobster tails, lamb chops and made to order stunning desserts. There is a second location at the Green Valley Ranch casino resort in suburban Henderson. Quezada really likes the pizza at Five50 in the Aria, and a nice option is that it available to go by the slice, perfect for the sports book next door. Best Sushi: barMasa, Morimoto, Nobu: The vast majority of sushi in this country is simply not good and uses very poor-quality fish, and Las Vegas has a lot of options from superlative to terrible.
But these three eponymous eateries, all by legendary sushi chefs do it right. At barMASA in Aria, every day, Chef Masa Takayama receives a new seafood shipment straight from Japanese coastal waters, and also has top quality rare Japanese beef and a great Japanese craft beer, sake and whisky program. The key to great sushi is great suppliers, and these have that down to a science.
He also wrote the definitive seafood cookbook, Fish Without a Doubt, works with the Monterey Bay Aquarium and is on the cutting edge of sustainability, and gets amazing fish. Another often overlooked spot with impeccable sourcing of ultra-fresh product from around the world is Estiatorio Milos, the Greek fine dining spot originally from Montreal that has a wonderful outpost in the Cosmopolitan. Brioche buns are exceptional, dotted with white and black sesame seeds and baked fresh daily.
The double patty Farm Burger has English sharp cheddar, a fried egg and duck breast bacon, and I love the Britannia burger, with sharp cheddar, arugula and mango chutney, which turns out to be a super burger ingredient. Of course, Vegas has an outpost of just about every fast food burger t in America, and especially for late night revelry, you can never beat White Castle. If you think Vegas buffets are cheesy, the opulent one at Wynn will have you rethinking the entire Best Buffet: The buffet paradigm has changed in Vegas Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan sort of reinvented the concept and started the modern trend , and instead of bargain hunters, these increasingly pricey, elaborate - and massive - spre cater more to foodies and international visitors.
To be a fair, these behemoths are constantly upgrading and adding new bells and whistles, and Wynn benefits from having one of the most recent major top to bottom revamps. The food selection is huge, with distinct stations for meat carving, made to order tortillas and street tacos, and the only Argentinean wood burning parilla grill on a Strip buffet.
Especially impressive is the Asian section, with lots of dim sum options, cooked-to-order ramen, and made-to-order Peking duck buns, and the seafood zone, which solves the perennial buffet problem of picked-over crab legs and shrimp with a giant two-sided rotating ice display, so while guests are serving themselves, chefs are always rebuilding and restocking one side, which include Jonah crab legs and other high-end touches.
