Masks are required at the service. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a loyal friend, and an avid collector. Daniel lived each day of his life just as he wished: with people he loved and doing things that gave him joy and satisfaction. There was joy present in his life in the smiles and hugs of his grandkids, in the pride he took in his three children and their lives, and in the comfort and love he felt for his wife of 48 years, Marlene Hassebroek Boon.

He relished routine, which for him included living in the same farmhouse for his whole life and embracing the history of hard work, including milking cows for 32 years while raising a family. Routine in the last twenty years also meant getting breakfast at McDonalds where the staff would see him pull in the parking lot and have his order ready on a tray by the time he walked in the door. Local car afficionados and friends knew him for his classic cars, especially his pride for his Chevy police cruiser that he carefully restored, and which garnered him many car show trophies.

Daniel Boon Salvage, which Daniel ran out of the grove on the family farm for 45 years, allowed classic car owners from all over the US to obtain those scarce car parts needed for restoration projects. People in thrift stores, toy stores and swap meets throughout the Midwest knew Daniel for his passion for toys. He was lucky to have never lost the feeling of unrestrained delight of finding a special toy, especially if only he knew why it was special. Each of his grandkids benefited from that delight for toys, but they never could beat him in his favorite video game—being the best at Subway Surfers was a distinct badge of honor.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Cornelia Boon Sr. To send flowers to the family in memory of Daniel Boon, please visit our flower store. Make condolence private. Our deepest condolences to his family. We were car show friends. So sorry to hear such sad news. We will be keeping you, Marlene and the rest of the family in our thoughts and prayers. Sorry to hear about Daniel. We met at some car show many years ago. He had the 57 convert ,nice car, and then the cop car. He had a lot of fun with it. I remember one time we were at world of wheels car show.

He thought I looked like one of his brothers. I think we went to Luvern VFW. I think it was his mothers birthday. She thought I looked like the brother too. Crazy no relation. I hav'nt seen him in years, but I was just thinking about some car parts. My late husband Dan always talked highly of Dan Boon.

Always pointed out where Dan lived on our way to Rapid Speedway. Both had an interest in my deepest sympathy to the family as you travel this road. I will remember always the time that Jimmy ,mom and I, we're driving down the Doon road all the sudden we heard whoot whoot, it startled mom she slowed down and pulled over and it was Uncle Dan and his cop car with his uniform on he was coming from a car show will always miss you and think of all the good times Love You Susan.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Marlene and family. I have many fond memories of the neighborhood hay baling, babysitting kids and graduation from Drake. Anthony has good memories of hanging out with Dan and the rest of the Boon family when he visited Iowa. Once in study hall, Dan managed to convince me that cars had something called a VanAllen belt. Dans purple charger played a role in getting Anthony and I together.

Dan will always hold. Special place in our hearts. Your family is in our prayers. I met Dan at Walmart. He was always kind and very respectful. I will miss seeing him. I will think of him often.
